COVID-19: Ikpokpo meets stakeholders on ways to prevent spread of virus ~ Truth Reporters

The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government, Hon. Itiako Ikpokpo Ksm, thursday met with Traditional Rulers, various spectrum of Community Leadership, Vigilantees, Drivers Union, Market Leaders, owners of big businesses including Banks and heads of Security Agencies in the Local Government on how to effectively prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus in the Local Government.



Addressing the meeting, Ikpokpo explained that the virus is real, and though no case has been recorded in Delta State, urgent steps must be taken to prevent its occurence in the State and Local Government.

The Chairman therefore anounced the following precautionary measures aimed at curtailing the spread of the virus;

1- Staff of Isoko South Local Government from grade level 01 to level 12 to stay at home indefinitely.

2- Biometric attendance register for staff of Isoko South Local Government suspended till further notice.

3- All forms of social gathering, i.e burial, marriages, political meeetings exceeding twenty persons in attendance banned indefinitely.

4- All forms of Community Conferences, Festivals, Townhall and Youth meetings suspended forthwith.

5- Supermarkets, Hotels, Restaurants Banks, and Big Business outlets must display hand washing spots, ( flowing water), and sanitizers at entry or exit points and must ensure that customers obey social distance protocol. Local Government Monitoring /Enforcemment Committee to aggressively enforce directive and defaulters made to close shop with immediate effect.

6- All forms of religious Crusade and Revivals banned indefinitely.

7- All Brothels operating in the Local Government are to close shop by 12 midnight, Thursday 26th March.

8- Local Government to urgently meet with heads of markets across the Local Government on the provision of hand washing spots, and cleanliness/fumigation of the markets

The Chairman thereafter constituted two Committees namely Monitoring/Enforcement and Sensitization/Enlightenment Committees.

Monitoring/ Enforcement
1- Mr. Oboba Igorojo Festus- Supervisor For Environment, Isoko South - Chairman.
2- Hon. Beatrice Oyibotha Igogo- Supervisor For Health, Isoko South.
3-Dr. I.E. Taigbenu- Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care, Isoko South LG.
4- Mrs Victory Ikpibako- Head of Environment Department, Isoko South.
5- Blessing Iboje- Chairman, Isoko South Primary Health Care Authority.
6- Mr. Sammy Edegbo- Education Secretary, Local Education Authority, Isoko South
7- Hon. Dickson Osifo- Whiskey
8- Hon. Clifford Gbobodo
9- Chairman, NULGE Isoko South.
10- Comr. Bello Eghove
11- Mr. Frank Agbaragu.

The Committee is to work closely with the Nigeria Police and Community Vigilantees.

The Enlightenment Team is co-headed by the Head of the Environment Department and the Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care, Isoko South Local Government. Members of the Team are to be drawn from the Environment and Health Departments of the Council.
