Retirement not isolation, says Ogidi-Gbegbaje ~ Truth Reporters



The Permanent Secretary, Mr Eddy Ogidi-Gbegbaje of the Directorate of Government house and Protocol has called on retirees to see their exit from service as another phase of assuming the role of mentorship rather than Isolation phase. 


Mr Eddy Ogidi-Gbegbaje made the call on Friday at Government House Asaba, when management and staff of the Directorate celebrated with the Chief Driver of the Directorate, Mr Goddey Iwhiwhu and three of his colleagues, Mr Odum Samuel, Mr Johnson Ikpewe and Mr Peter Ojanige bowed out of the civil service.


He stated that many have retired on account of age, years of service even on health grounds but that shouldn't deter them from offering advice and mentorship as their role was critical to nation building at this time when the country was yearning for solution in various strata of development.

"Although you have retired, you have entered another phase of life, it doesn't mean you have to cut-off yourself from society but that you evolve ways of being a solution provider and for mentorship ".

The Permanent Secretary who extolled their sterling qualities and simplicity to duty encouraged others to follow same.

He thanked God for their lives noting that they started a career and ending in good health.

Responding,  Mr Goddey Iwhiwhu commended the Permanent Secretary for his superior advice and contribution that has turned event in his life to his favour.

The ceremony which witnessed the cutting of cake and a token of cash presentation had the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,  Mr Olisa Ifeajika and Directors present.
