UPF Congratulates Okumagba, Others Over NDDC Appointment ~ Truth Reporters

The Urhobo Political Forum (UPF) has congratulated Olorogun Benard Okumagba and others appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari into the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

In his congratulatory message to Chief Okumagba, the Chairman of the Forum, Sen Chief Ighoyota Amori said Olorogun Okumagba was a square peg in a square hole and has more than sufficient credentials to meet the demands of that enviable office.

"He is a financial Technocrat/guru and also a politician who once served as Commissioner for Economic Planning and later Commissioner of Finance under Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, an Itsekiri man when he was Governor of Delta state.

He praised and commended the role played by the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege in the appointment of Olorogun Okumagba.

He said "What is important is the interest of the Urhobo and Delta state and not the political party he belongs. The amiable Governor of Delta state Sen. Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa must be commended for putting the interest of the state first by not joining some PDP /APC Governors in protesting the constitution of the Board of NDDC.

"That is very statemanly of our Governor and i enjoined all on behalf of the UPF to give maximum support to Olorogun Benard Okumagba in the task ahead.

"For those protesting, it is their inalienable right to express their disgust but they should allow sleeping dogs lie.They should remember that other states within the south south geo-political zone have occupied the position before and we all in the oil producing communities in the state have been occupying various positions in NDDC without protest.

"Let's move forward. There is no big deal in the APC appointing Okumagba as MD of NDDC. The Pdp administration in Obasanjo/Jonathan governments once appointed Engr Godwin Omene and later Sen. Emmanuel Aguariavwodo to the same position.

"Okumagba needs our support and the UPF & indeed the entire Deltans will support him, he said adding "As we prepare for 2023 the URHOBO POLITICAL FORUM (UPF) will be rejuvenated to actualize our dreams by reaching out and cooperating and synegyzing with every segment/stakeholders in the political spectrum of the state. "The work begins today.

"We also seize the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Pius Odubu for his appointment as Chairman of NDDC Board & Prophet Jones Erhue as the Commissioner representing Delta state.

"It is a perfect combination and i believe they will collectively do us proud. UPF remains in the vanguard of support for Olorogun Benard Okumagba and his NDDC Team." he stated
