Govt Has Not Jettisoned Committee Set Up To Revisit Suspended 2015 Employment Process –Aniagwu





The Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, has assured protesting candidates of the suspended 2015 recruitment that government has not jettisoned the report of the committee set up to review the process.

Mr Aniagwu made the clarification today in his office while addressing protesting candidates whose employment was suspended due to perceived irregularities.

The commissioner stated that the government of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa was honest, responsive and very much aware of the plight of the unemployed, adding that measures had been put in place to ensure that Deltans were gainfully engaged whether in private or public sector.

He cited examples with the different skill acquisition programmes of the state government and centre spread across the state to make Delta youths productive citizens, saying it was a deliberate effort to make contribute their quota to the economic development of the state as well as add value to their lives and that of their families and society in general.

The Commissioner explained that the recruitments going on in the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources was for specialized areas and that all Deltans who qualified were free to apply.

While urging those protesting to remain calm and be law abiding citizens the Commissioner assured them that their message will received that desired attention from the state government within a fortnight.

He noted that government discovered discrepancies in the recruitment, including the discovery of none Deltans in the said exercise and urged the protesters to exercise patience, get the right Information and not to allow hearsay and rumours to mislead them.

The commissioner promised to pass on their message and concerns to the state governor, whom he said was out of the state for official engagements.

Mr Obukohwo Regha, the leader of the protesters had earlier told the commissioner that they had come to protest to him based on the fact that the review of their employment had not been made public and they were worried that the state government was employing in Ministry of Agriculture and others offices

Mr Regha informed the commissioner that they had confidence in him, saying it explained why they chose to make the government hear their cry through the him.
