ZIMBABWE HOLDS NIGERIA TO A GOALESS DRAW

Nigeria continued Africa Cup of Nations preparation with a goalless draw with Zimbabwe at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Warriors went for a strong side as Khama Billiat, Knowledge Musona and Nyasha Mushekwi led the attack while Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi got the nod for the Super Eagles.

It was the home side who looked lively in the early stages of the encounter, with Paul Onuachu going closest to breaking the deadlock inside the opening 10 minutes.

The Warriors came in to the encounter fresh from clinching third spot at the COSAFA Cup, although they barely threatened Akpeyi's goal in the opening 45 minutes.

The rainy conditions at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba did not help the cause as the nations went in to the break scoreless.

The likes of Ahmed Musa, William Troost-Ekong and Chidozie Awaziem entered the game at the start of the second half as Gernot Rohr went for fresh legs.

Despite the flurry of changes in the second half, neither side could find the breakthrough as the encounter ended goalless in Asaba.

The Super Eagles will lock horns with Senegal in their final Afcon warm up before they take on Buruni in their opening group game.
