Ukah Leads Aggressive Cleanup Exercise Across Delta Capital Territory ~ Truth Reporters

The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency has intensified its ongoing cleaning exercise, enforcement of environmental compliance, and evacuation of illegal refuse dumps to government-approved dump sites within the Capital Territory ahead of the 3rd anniversary of the administration of Sheriff Oborevwori.

The large-scale environmental sanitation operation was personally and strictly supervised by the Director General of the Agency, Patrick Ukah, alongside the Head of Environment, Isaac Nwosu.

Areas covered during the exercise included Summit Road, Anwai/Government House Road, Okpanam Road, Airport Road along the Benin-Asaba Expressway, Maryam Babangida Way, Cabinet Road, High Court Road, Anwai Road, and Government House Road.

The exercise focused on sweeping of surface tarred roads, litter picking, premises inspection and serving of environmental notices, as well as the evacuation of pockets of illegal refuse dumps across the Capital Territory. Waste evacuated from the affected locations was transported to government-approved dump sites.

Particular attention was given to the evacuation of refuse heaps along Summit Road, Anwai/Government House Road, Okpanam Road, and the Airport axis of the Benin-Asaba Expressway, while sweeping operations on Summit Road were actively ongoing.

Speaking during the exercise, Patrick Ukah reiterated the Agency’s commitment to maintaining a cleaner, safer, and more aesthetically pleasing Capital Territory in line with the developmental vision of the administration of Sheriff Oborevwori.

He further urged residents, traders, and business owners to support government efforts by adhering strictly to environmental sanitation regulations and adopting proper waste disposal practices.

The Agency disclosed that the aggressive environmental sanitation and enforcement exercise will continue tomorrow as efforts are intensified to sustain cleanliness and environmental orderliness across the Capital Territory.
