Reps Aspirant, Olotu Akpodiete, Bags Explorers Leadership Award at EII 6th AGM ~ Truth Reporters
House of Representatives Aspirant, Hon. Dr. Olotu Akpodiete JP, was on Friday, 2nd May 2026, honoured with the Explorers Leadership Award by the Explorers Innovative Initiative (EII) during the association’s 6th Annual General Meeting/Reunion held at Goldstep Hotel, Delta State.
The award was presented by the President of EII, Chief Onos Gold Ekpuda, who extolled Dr. Akpodiete’s leadership style as “great, proactive, visionary, tactical, results-oriented, team-focused, listening and inclusive.” Chief Ekpuda noted that the award recognizes Dr. Akpodiete’s consistent commitment to excellence and people-driven leadership in both private and public service.
In his response, an elated Dr. Akpodiete expressed gratitude to the leadership of Explorers Innovative Initiative for the honour.
“This award will motivate me to continue showing exemplary leadership across private and public sector,” Dr. Akpodiete said. “I am deeply humbled that the work we did together is still remembered and celebrated.”
Dr. Akpodiete served as the immediate past President of EII. Highlights of his tenure include:
- Hosting Explorers Day at the Department of Physics, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma
- Presenting cash prizes to best outstanding students for academic excellence
- Donating geophysics and physics textbooks to the department
- Presenting awards to the former Vice Chancellor, Dean, and lecturers of the department
- Facilitating the registration of the association with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
The AGM also featured a keynote seminar by Emeritus President Okogie Felix Ugbesia on Mid Life Transition: From Crises to Catalyst, which charged members to turn challenges into opportunities for growth.
Other recipients of the Explorers Awards at the event include Explorer Florence Agbator, Ejiro Agbonifo, Erharuyi Erhunmwunsee, Olumide Ogundowole, and Eribo Osasu.
Additional activities during the 2026 AGM/Reunion included the unveiling of the maiden edition of Explorers Magazine, adoption of the association’s amended constitution, and a presentation on achievements of the new Executives.
The event was well attended by members including Jonathan Balogun, Itota Godwin, Ufuoma Akpehre, Idahosa Collins, Omatsola Boyo, Violet Etsano, and Dickson Okhiria.
Explorers Innovative Initiative is a group of diverse professionals who graduated from Department of physics Class of 2004 Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma Edo State, committed to leadership and membership development, innovation, and community impact. The annual AGM/Reunion serves as a platform to review progress, honour excellence, and set direction for the association’s growth.
