How Oborevwori’s Inclusive Governance Model Can Strengthen National Unity — Aniagwu ~ Truth Reporters
Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has said that the inclusive governance model being implemented by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has positioned him as a credible voice on national unity and development.
Aniagwu spoke to journalists on the sidelines of the centenary lecture series of the Yoruba Tennis Club in Lagos, where the governor delivered the guest lecture on Wednesday.
According to the commissioner, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has deliberately fostered a governance system that accommodates people from diverse ethnic backgrounds residing in Delta State.
He noted that beyond appointments, the administration has ensured that development projects are evenly distributed to reflect inclusiveness, making the state a model that could be replicated across the federation to promote unity and national cohesion.
Aniagwu explained that the governor used the platform to advocate for a broader national discourse on critical issues affecting Nigeria’s unity, including the rotation of the presidency and equitable resource distribution.
He stressed that such conversations should not only take place but must be backed by legal frameworks that would make their outcomes binding, rather than subject to political discretion.
He further stated that the Oborevwori administration has moved beyond policy articulation to deliberate implementation, ensuring that no part of the state is left out in development efforts.
“The governor consistently asks questions about areas yet to benefit from projects because he believes every group matters,”
Aniagwu said, adding that special attention is also given to vulnerable groups, particularly women and the elderly.
The commissioner maintained that by promoting inclusiveness, fairness and deliberate project execution, the Delta State government is addressing the needs of various segments of society, a strategy he said has strengthened social harmony within the state and offers lessons for the rest of the country.
