Delta Assembly Delegation Visits Elue Family, Felicitates Kachikwu at 77 ~ Truth Reporters

 

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, on Thursday led members of the State Legislature on a condolence visit to the family of the late former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Chief Benjamin S.C. Elue, at his residence in Obior, Aniocha North Local Government Area.

Chief Elue, who served as Deputy Governor of Delta State between 1999 and 2007, was remembered by the lawmakers for his contributions to the growth and stability of the state during his years in public service.

The Assembly delegation, which included principal officers and other members, was received by the widow of the late statesman, Lady Esther Elue, alongside their children, relatives and prominent indigenes of Obior, an agrarian community regarded by many as the traditional headquarters of the Ezechima Kingdom.

Speaking during the visit, Speaker Guwor described the late Chief Elue as a committed public servant whose impact on Delta State and Nigeria would remain indelible.

According to him, the former Deputy Governor demonstrated exemplary leadership and maintained a cordial relationship with the State Legislature while in office.

“On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late former Deputy Governor. May his soul rest in peace and may the family find comfort in the Almighty God during this difficult time,” Guwor said.

The Speaker further commended the late Elue for his humility and dedication to service, noting that his legacy of leadership and humanity would continue to inspire future generations.

Also speaking during the visit, the Member representing Aniocha North State Constituency and Leader of the House, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, paid glowing tribute to the late Deputy Governor, describing him as a respected leader whose influence and reputation remained strong even in death.

Responding on behalf of the family, relatives of the deceased expressed appreciation to the Speaker and members of the Assembly for the show of solidarity and prayers, noting that the visit provided comfort to the family in their moment of grief.

The visit featured a minute silence in honour of the departed elder statesman, prayers for the repose of his soul, words of encouragement to the bereaved family, and the signing of the condolence register.

Meanwhile, the Speaker and members of the Assembly also paid a courtesy visit to Mrs. Josephine Ada Kachikwu, a former two-term Chairman of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, at her residence in neighbouring Onicha-Ugbo community, where they felicitated with her on the occasion of her 77th birthday anniversary.

During the visit, Guwor praised Mrs. Kachikwu for her years of dedicated service to God and humanity, praying for continued fulfilment, good health and many more years of impact.

The lawmakers joined in celebrating the septuagenarian, wishing her a happy birthday and continued service to society.

In her response, Mrs. Kachikwu expressed gratitude to the Speaker and members of the Assembly for the visit and warm birthday wishes, assuring them of her continued prayers for the success of the Assembly and the progress of Delta State.
