DELTA: Oborevwori Committed to Statewide Development — Izeze ~ Truth Reporters

Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has stated that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remains steadfast in his commitment to the development of all parts of Delta State.

Comrade Izeze made the remark on Friday during a surprise inspection of the Okowa Crescent road project in Ughelli, noting that the work was progressing satisfactorily and on track for completion by March.

The unannounced inspection was undertaken to independently verify the status of the project and ensure adherence to quality standards and delivery timelines.

Izeze explained that the contractor had informed the ministry that work resumed in the first week of January, adding that the surprise visit confirmed the contractor’s full presence on site and appreciable progress on the project.

“I did not call the contracting firm handling this project because I wanted to be sure they were on site. From what we have seen today, they are indeed on site and the work done so far is encouraging,” he said.

The Commissioner noted that the contractor was taking maximum advantage of the dry season window, describing the quality of work as commendable.

He expressed optimism that the project would be substantially completed within the next one month and ready for inauguration by March.

Reaffirming the Oborevwori administration’s development philosophy, Izeze said road infrastructure remains a critical pillar of the Governor’s agenda to open up communities, enhance mobility and stimulate economic activities across urban, rural and riverine areas of the state.

He further assured that indigenous contractors would continue to enjoy government patronage, provided they maintain high standards and deliver quality jobs that meet public expectations.

“The quality of work here is good. Our indigenous contractors have improved significantly since we assumed office, but there is always room for improvement, and we expect them to continue to raise the bar,” he added.

The inspection, according to him, underscores the state government’s resolve to closely monitor projects and ensure the timely delivery of durable and high-quality infrastructure across Delta State.
