Andaye, INC President, Legal Luminaries Bid Chief Lucky Loyibo Farewell in Tuomo ~ Truth Reporters
The remains of renowned legal luminary and community leader, late Chief (Barr.) Lucky Ekayama Loyibo, JP, were on Friday laid to rest in his hometown of Tuomo, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, amid tributes celebrating a life of integrity, service and commitment to justice.
The burial ceremony attracted a distinguished gathering of personalities from within and outside Delta State, including the Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye; President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) Worldwide, Prof. Benjamin Okaba; former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe; members of the Body of Benchers; Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs); and several legal practitioners.
The solemn event, marked by traditional rites and heartfelt tributes, drew an unprecedented crowd of family members, traditional rulers, political leaders and well-wishers from across Delta State and the wider Niger Delta region. Speakers at the ceremony extolled the virtues of the late Chief Loyibo, describing him as a man whose life was devoted to justice, peace and humanity.
The Loyibo family, led by High Chief (Dr.) Mike Ekayama Loyibo, Esq., received sympathisers and associates who came to honour the memory and enduring legacy of the respected legal icon.
Hon. Andaye, while paying glowing tribute to the deceased, described Chief Lucky Ekayama Loyibo as “a man of sterling principles, humility and exceptional professional excellence, whose contributions to the legal profession and community development remain deeply appreciated.” He noted that the late jurist’s life of service and moral rectitude earned him admiration and respect far beyond his immediate Tuomo community.
Speaker after speaker echoed similar sentiments, stressing that Chief Loyibo’s unwavering commitment to justice and ethical conduct set him apart and left an indelible mark on society.
As his remains were committed to the earth, prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of his soul, with attendees expressing confidence that his legacy of integrity, service and dedication to justice would continue to inspire the legal community and society at large.
The presence of Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye at the ceremony further underscored the strong bond of fraternity between him and High Chief Mike Ekayama Loyibo, Esq., a relationship anchored on shared ideals of good governance, grassroots development and lasting peace within the Ijaw nation and Delta State in general.
