Anoka, Stakeholders Chart New Course for Cable Point Urban Renewal Plan ~ Truth Reporters

 

Delta State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Renewal, Engr. Ifeanyi Anoka, has engaged residents and key stakeholders in Cable Point, Asaba, to harvest their inputs toward the production of a comprehensive Urban Renewal Plan for the community.

 

The engagement, tagged “Delta State Urban Forum for Cable Point, Asaba,” was held on Tuesday at Cable Point in the state capital.

 

In his remarks, Engr. Anoka expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for prioritizing urban development and initiating participatory planning processes across the state in line with the MORE Agenda. 

He noted that Cable Point was selected due to the governor’s commitment to unlock its vast socio-economic and environmental potential.

 

“Cable Point is endowed with tremendous opportunities and natural blessings that can be harnessed to transform this area into a model urban zone,” he said.

 

The Commissioner assured residents that the government was not merely consulting for formality but genuinely committed to incorporating their suggestions into the final plan.

 

“All your suggestions will be documented, prioritized, and reflected. We do not plan for the people; we plan with the people. Whatever emerges as the Cable Point Urban Renewal Plan will be something you can truly call your own,” he emphasized.

 

He encouraged stakeholders to propose projects and amenities that would elevate living standards, boost economic activity, and improve social well-being across neighborhoods in Cable Point.

 

Engr. Anoka was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. (Mrs.) Charity Ehimen.

 

Also present were the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, Dr. Kelvin Ezeyinli; Chairman, Delta State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Auwalu Tukur; Councillor for Ward 13, Hon. Jibrin Audu; Representative of the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Idivisi Kuta; along with leaders of the Arewa, Igbo, Yoruba, and Igala communities in the area.

 

Various community-based groups, including the Cable Community Development Association, Cable Dynamic Youth Organization, Cable Market Union, Cable Flying Boat Union, Cable Rainbow Coalition, Ogbueshi Wing, Oshimili South Marshals (Wards 10 and 11), The Jews Club, Barbers Association, and other youth formations, were also in attendance.

 

Residents suggested key priority projects, including drainage systems, internal road construction, street lighting, healthcare facilities, boreholes, shoreline protection, and increased security presence to enhance safety and commercial activity.
