Ehiwarior Pledged Even Development of Ika South LGA ~ Truth Reporters

 

The Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has reiterated his administration's commitment to the even infrastructural development of the local government area.

Ehiwarior gave the assurance when he received the Chairman and members of the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who were at Ika South Local Government Area, during the week on a working visit in furtherance of their oversight function.

The Chairman disclosed that his administration was able to achieve the desired success so far due to the support and encouragement of the State Government and the people of Ika South Local Government Area, who, he said, were the true repository of power.

He particularly appreciated the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his guidance, the Speaker of the State Leguslature, Rt. Hon. Momotimi Guwor, and members of the State House of Assembly, for their commitment to the welfare of the citizens.

Engr. Ehiwarior, while thanking the lawmakers for the visit and general oversight of the activities of the local governments across the state, reassured them of his commitment to good governance at the local government level.

He expressed appreciation to the Committee for the visit, stressing that it had given the House of Assembly first hand information how the councils are utilising resources at their disposal, adding that the Chairmen were mindful of the fact that whatever happens at that level had far -reaching impacts on the state and the nation.

"The Councils are strictly under the purview of the State House of Assembly, to guide and give direction. We will continue to do the right things for the interest of our people," he stressed.

Speaking shortly after inspecting some of the major projects executed by Engr. Ehiwarior-led administration, the leader of the team and Chairman, House Committee on Local Government Affairs, Hon. Chukwudi Dafe, said they were impressed with the quality of the projects. 

He commended the Ika South Local Government Chairman for what he described as "strategic and meaningful projects that are in line with the State Government's MORE Agenda, that would surely directly impact on the day,- to- day life of residents of the area."

He particularly identified the Alihame Modern market, Edike bridge over the Orogodo River, the 1.15 kilometre Abude Street, Ekuku Agbor market, the Abavo Health Centre, amongst the many other projects, as, "people -oriented that would add value to the lives of the people."
