Have Implicit Trust in Gov. Oborevwori, Iduh Amadhe Charges Isoko Nation ~ Truth Reporters

The Grand Patron of the Isoko Development Union (IDU), High Chief Iduh Amadhe, has urged the people of Isoko Nation in Delta State to place implicit trust in Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, assuring that the Governor will not neglect the interests of the Isoko people, who remain an integral part of the state.

 

Chief Amadhe made the appeal in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area, while speaking to journalists in reaction to concerns over the exclusion of Isoko Nation from the N230 billion projects recently approved by the State Executive Council (EXCO).

 

According to the former Chairman of Isoko South, “There is no doubt that Governor Oborevwori’s administration means well for the Isoko people. There is no way the MORE Agenda can be successfully implemented without the Isoko Nation getting its fair share.

 

“This is not a yearly budgetary approval but a State Executive Council meeting, and there will be many more EXCO meetings under this administration. If Isoko was not captured in this round, it can be accommodated in the next.”

 

He appealed to all aggrieved persons, including those who have gone to court, to sheath their swords and allow the cultural leadership and political class to handle the matter through dialogue and lobbying. “We must never put the cart before the horse. Where we are going is far better than where we are coming from,” he said.

 

Chief Amadhe further stressed the need for the Isoko Nation to remain united, focused, and speak with one voice.

 

Recalling a similar situation during the tenure of former Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, he noted that an alleged 1% allocation to Isoko in a particular budget had caused disquiet, but the matter was resolved amicably after consultation, clarification, and proper interfacing.

 

He maintained that there are clear indications that Governor Oborevwori has not neglected the Isoko people in his first two years in office. “As an in-law to the Isoko Nation, the Governor will never work against the land of origin of the First Lady, his wife and our daughter,” he assured.

 

The IDU Grand Patron expressed confidence that in subsequent project approvals, Isoko Nation will be duly accommodated, stressing that as a major oil and gas producing ethnic nationality, Isoko cannot be undermined.

 

On the looming flood forecast, Chief Amadhe advised residents to be proactive, harvest their crops early, and prepare to relocate to higher grounds if necessary. He also called on the government to mobilize relevant agencies promptly to mitigate the impact of the perennial flooding.
