Revenue Boost: Ughelli North Council Boss, Egbo, to Commence Revalidation of Shop Ownership at Central Motor Park ~Truth Reporters

In a move aimed at boosting the internally generated revenue (IGR) of Ughelli North Local Government Council and curbing revenue leakages, the Chairman of the Council, Olorogun Jaro Movudu Egbo, Esq, Ksc, has announced the commencement of a revalidation exercise for all shops located at the Ughelli Central Motor Park.

Egbo made this known on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, during an emergency enlarged meeting with officials of the Central Motor Park and traders operating within the park’s premises, held at his office in Ughelli.

Underscoring the importance of IGR to infrastructural development and economic stability, the Council Chairman noted that no government can thrive without a robust revenue base.

He emphasized that government-owned properties are not inheritable or transferable, insisting that current occupants of the shops must either vacate them or begin remitting annual fees directly to the Council’s treasury.

Egbo urged all eligible occupants to reapply for the shops, stating that the revalidation exercise will determine their continued tenancy and qualify them for legal occupation through annual payments to the Council.

He also issued a stern warning against making payments to unauthorized individuals, stressing that only officially designated revenue officers are permitted to collect such fees. He condemned the illegal occupation of government properties across Ughelli North, vowing strict enforcement of compliance.

In their remarks, representatives of the Central Motor Park and the shop traders expressed appreciation to the Council Chairman for his consultative approach. They pledged to fully comply with the revalidation directives, assuring that the initiative would not only enhance the Council’s revenue but also provide legal backing for their businesses within the motor park.
