Egbo dismisses smear campaigns, says he is focused on delivering effective governance ~ Truth Reporters

The Chairman of Ughelli North local government council, Jaro Movudu Egbo, Esq, has stridently maintained that he will not be deterred by falsehood and character assassination against his person.

Rather , he maintained, "my focus remains on delivering effective governance and upholding the principles of integrity and service to the people of Ughelli North".

The Ughelli North Council Chairman, gave the assurances , while speaking with select journalists at the council chambers , Ughelli North local government secretariat , on Monday May 19, 2025.

Speaking on "Cyber-bullying , libelous and fake news spread by Mr Ovoke Akpobasa and his cohorts-pre-action notice",  Jaro Egbo said the recent wave of false , malicious , and unfounded allegations being circulated by Sahara reporters and other online media platforms regarding the purported award of government contracts to Skyviaro Properties Development Company Limited, an unregistered contractor with the Ughelli North local government , showed the extent of calumny Akpobasa and his group could go in assassinating his character.

The Ughelli North Council boss who said that the said Skyviaro Properties is not personally owned and operated by him, and having resigned from any involvement with the said company long ago , emphasized that there has been no breach of due process or statutory guidelines in any contract awards under his ten-month administration as Ughelli North Council Chairman

He described such deliberate spread of misinformation, as a calculated attempt to tarnish his reputation , discredit his administration , and cast aspersions on the government of His Excellency , Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, a move which will be stoutly resisted within legal limits

On the issue of his purported suspension from his Abovwe family , Jaro Egbo referred to the  report of the Abovwe family meeting held on Sunday 18th May , 2025 in Uduere Community , Ughelli, wherein the family stoutly debunked such unfounded social media reports

The Abovwe family statement reads in part : .."the purported suspension document, which has been making rounds on social media, is nothing more than a fraudulent fabrication. None of the recognized Abovwe Family Executive Committee members endorsed it. Instead, it bears the signatures of individuals who, quite frankly , did not comprehend what they were signing...Let it be known, and let it be heard loud and clear, we the Abovwe family of Abovwe Quarter in Uduere Community , Ughelli, stand united behind Olorogun Jaro Egbo"

On infrastructural and other developmental projects and programmes under his ten- month old administration, the Ughelli North Council Chairman stated that he is committed to service delivery and will continue to deliver on the Renewed Hope and More Agenda of the state government , to the good people of Ughelli North

Legacy projects currently completed , and ongoing, include renovation of Chairman,s, Vice Chairman,s , Leader of the House, SLG, HPM and total renovation of Councillors offices and the council secretariat , purchase of eight (8) official vehicles for principal officers and the press unit, construction of Children cottage hospital in ughelli, construction of Doctors and nurses quarters , construction of ultra modern storey building in the council secretariat , area customary court Ughelli , and one major project in each of the seven kingdoms , either a police station or Area customary court, among others
