2024/2025 matriculation: DOU admits 4,403, transiting to digital learning, says VC, Prof Oghojafor ~ Truth Reporters

The Vice Chancellor of Dennis Osadebay University , Asaba, Professor Ben Oghojafor , has disclosed the institution's plans to transit to digital or paperless, learning system.


Presently , said the DOU Vice Chancellor, the payment system for hostel accommodation and all school fees payment systems are fully digitalized and automated, such that  students can now pay fees and apply for a bed space , from the comfort of any location in the world


Addressing the 4,403 matriculating students and the academic and non academic community and stakeholders at the 1,000 capacity ETF hall, Professor Oghojafor also added that Senate meetings of the institution are now paperless, while other units of the University will soon follow in this direction , thus committing to environmental sustainability and a wholesome usage of the university,s colours which are purple and green.


The DOU Vice Chancellor , while congratulating the matriculants for being found worthy to be admitted into the world class programmes of the school, told them that the ceremony places a huge burden on their shoulders as ambassadors of DOU, and as such are expected to be in their best behaviour anywhere they go.


On ethics and behaviour , he charged them to beware of substance abuse and cult related activities in addition to indecent dressing and prostitution of any form , warning that anyone found wanting, will face the full wrath of the law.



While giving the success story of the institution from its establishment via an act of Parliament signed into law by immediate past Governor Okowa in February 2021, the Vice Chancellor said , today , DOU , from it's "ground zero" status upon inception , can boast of infrastructure such as the new Faculty of Agriculture building with its adjoining 500 sitting capacity main auditorium and two lecture theatres of 250 sitting capacity each, the Administrative building , Faculty of Environmental  Sciences building , Faculty of Management Sciences building , Faculty of Behavioural Sciences building , Faculty of Science building , and the new Faculty of Arts building.


Moreso, Prof Oghojafor disclosed, the Faculty of Law, New Faculty of Management Sciences Complex, are currently under construction , while his administration has also reached agreements with several investors through the Public- Private- Partnership ( PPP) model, for the construction of a state-of-the-art students hostels , in addition to a housing quarter for staff of the university, which will be fitted with solar for 24 hours power supply in addition to installation of CCTV cameras to enhance the security of lives and property


The highpoint of the 2024/2025 matriculation ceremony , the fourth in the series , since the inception of the institution , was the administration of the Matriculation oath on the 4,403 matriculants by the Registrar , Mrs Genevieve lsioma Obadan.



The matriculation ceremony which was also witnessed by the Chairman , House of Assembly Committee on Appropriation and member representing lka North East Constituency , Hon Marilyn Okowa- Daramola,  Deputy Vice Chancellor ( DVC) Administration, Professor Christopher Chukwuji, Deputy Vice Chancellor ( DVC) Academics , Prof Robert Dode, University Librarian , Dr Nelson Edewor, Bursar, Mr Emmanuel Okolo, Acting Dean of Students Affairs, Dr Lucky Enakirerhi, Dean's of Faculties, Heads of departments , staff as well as the President of the Students Union Government ( SUG), Comrade Joan lfechukwude Ukwuamedua, her executive members , as well as parents , guardians and family members of the matriculants.
