Delta: Ofoni tasks Presidents-General on grassroot devt. ~ Truth Reporters







Presidents-General of communities in Delta State have been called upon to synergize with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Development in bringing government closer to the grassroots.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Development, Chief Anthony Ofoni made the call at the palace of the Asagba Of Asaba, Obi Professor Chike Edozien, during interaction with Presidents General of all the clans in Delta North.

The Special Adviser while addressing the PGs on the theme of the advocacy "Empowering Communities For Sustainable Development" emphasized the importance of fostering communities involvement in decision making process as well as promoting initiatives that contribute to the long-term development of communities.

He said that the real intention of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was to maintain cordial relationship between the Government and the people in the State through the M.O.R.E Agenda.





He urged the Presidents General to use their positions to contribute positively to their localities as their ideas and actions must promote peaceful coexistence among dwellers in the communities while they engage Government for the basic provision of social amenites.
          
The President Generals who spoke on behalf of others including Deacon Ikechukwu Okwaje, Chief Timothy Umukoro and Bishop Henry Uzor said the advocacy was timely and urged him to sustain the synergy.

They pleaded with the present administration to dualize roads leading to the communities as it will bring development closer to the people.

The Special Adviser also had interaction with the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Professor Chike Edozien, where he briefed him on the policy direction of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Obi Edozien who was represented by the Iyase of Asaba, Chief Patrick Onyeobi commended the Special Adviser for the advocacy visit and urged him to work with the Presidents General to bring the necessary development to the people.

In an opening speech, the Chairman of the Association of Presidents General of clans in Delta North Prince Igwe Nzekwu thanked the Special Adviser for the advocacy visit while saying that they worked diligently to ensure that their communities voted the Peoples Democratic Party.

Those in the entourage of the Special Adviser include Mr Lucky Dikadi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on community Development, and Chief Roseline Uwubiti, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on community development amongst others.
