Ekeanya Community Calls Oborevwori’s Attention To Deplorable Oko Road ~ Truth Reporters

 

·        Congratulates Him On Successful Inauguration As Governor  

Members of the Ekeanya Community, Oko, in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State have requested Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to address the deplorable condition of the road linking them to the state capital.

The community lamented that the 20km road that stretched from the Asaba-Onitsha Expressway to Oko Odifulu was only usable during the dry seasons, even as they called on the state government to intervene in the annual floods ravaging the area.

In a statement signed by the President of Ekeanya Development Union (EDU), Chief Leon L. Aliboh (Alanza Oduah), and the Secretary, Ikechukwu Odunze, the community congratulated the governor on his electoral victory and inauguration on May 29, 2023.

"Therefore, we are highly delighted at your well-deserved elevation to the exalted office. It is a clear testament and manifestation of your diligence, hard work, perseverance, enormous wealth of experience, leadership prowess, and outstanding accomplishments as an astute administrator and a seasoned parliamentarian.

"We know that leadership is an honor God bestows on whom he chooses. This confers on you the responsibility to marshal all the state's economic, human, and material resources to ensure a decent well-being, progressive and responsible life for all Deltans.

"Consequently, we are confident and hopeful that you will deliver to Deltans the much-desired hope and, by so doing, carve a niche for yourself in the annals of the history of governorship in Delta State.

"While we profoundly congratulate you, we humbly wish to seize this auspicious occasion to bring to your attention the concerns and aspirations of our community at this early stage of your stewardship. Most of these problems you are conversant with have been there for ages. Among these challenges are:

"All Season Access Road from Asaba to Oko, part of the state capital territory. The earth road of about 20 km stretches off the Asaba/Onitsha expressway through Amakom, Obiokpu, Anala, Ogbele, and Umu-Oko down to Odifulu.

"To the chagrin and dismay of the community, the road is only motorable between December to March, and for the rest of the year, the community is only accessed through the River Niger from Asaba or Anambra State," they said.

Subsequently, they sought the state government's intervention to improve the community's basic amenities, such as schools, functional healthcare facilities, and agricultural inputs.
