HoR 2023: The new trend of calumny and blackmail ~ Truth Reporters

By Azilo Ogunye

As the race to the primary elections gets closer, the campaign is taking a different dimension, with campaigns of calumny, blackmail and even threat of war.

It is so unfortunate that against known democratic principle of free contest, regulated only by laws, we have now set new rules of emotional blackmail to drive home our uncouth ambitions.

We have followed the trend of publishing concocted voice notes to arranged attacks with all traceable to a particular aspirant. Though we are not unaware of their antecedents, but we expected that as we go higher in life, one was supposed to be straightening his crooked ways with a focus on his relationship with his maker; living life with the fear of God.

If those who seek to lead with the responsibility to provide security of life and property, promote peace and order become authors and manifest of falsehood, desperate for the blood of those they seek to represent and promoting divisiveness, then, the future is bleak.

Engr Pastor Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko has been in highly competitive business environment, with investments in juicy sectors such as oil and gas, real estate, imports and exports with no record of criminality, maffiarism, violence and diabolism. He wouldn't learn that now. Ukodhiko has repeatedly made it clear, the kind of politics he believes on; politics that unites all. He believes in sustainable empowerment. He believes in the principal of accountability.

Yes, you have your reasons to suggest that it is the turn of Isoko South (wrongly or rightly). We also believe and truthfully too, that no political party in Isoko has been able to establish a zoning arrangement for the position of House of Reps.

This not withstanding, we must, as we have been and continue to go about our campaigns without grudges, calumny, name calling and threats and continue to sell our views, agenda to delegates. You will not get their votes with guns, appeals to them would make the difference.

Ukodhiko and his team, will not engage in unholy act of mudslinging and promoting war against the people he seeks to represent.

It is high time we redirected our path and embrace a peaceful process.

Lets vote for Engr Jonathan Ukodhiko for Reps
