Ogewho Primary School to be completed by May - Iteire ~ Truth Reporters







Isoko North Council Chairman, Deacon Christian Iteire on Thursday, assured of the completion by May, the building of Ogewho Primary School, Ogewho-Iyede been embarked upon by his administration.


Iteire gave the assurance on Thursday, February 16, 2022 when he, joined by his Vice, Chief Frank Ozue and members of his cabinet received the Special Adviser on Directorate of Local Government Affairs to the Delta State Governor, Hon Kelly Penewou who led Management staff of the directorate on a familiarization visit and working tour to the local government council.





The Isoko North Council Boss revealed that, the ongoing building of a block of three classrooms of the Primary School at Ogewho-Iyede was special to him and dear to his administration because, when he came on board, during his visitation to Primary Schools and healthcare centers he saw the peculiar  challenges of the pupils of the school , all taking lessons in the community’s town hall which made teaching and learning difficult and hard.





Giving sectoral breakdowns of his projects and programmes, the Council Chairman said that, in the area of Education, his administration has been able to revive and reopene adult education centers which were not functioning before, saying that, with the opening of new learning centers, the total adult education centers in the local government area is presently 18, all functioning and the adult pupils have put in for the first living certificate examinations that would be written this year.


Going further, He said his administration has been able to reopen the Local Government Council Nursery School (Creeche) with the enabling learning materials.


On public infrastructure, aside the building of the classrooms block at Ogewho-Iyede, his administration has as its ongoing projects, a modern abattoir with ranch at Ozoro, and 20 Lockup shops at Oyede, all nearing completion.




On environment, the Isoko North Council Boss said since the inception of his administration, there has been regular environmental exercise in the local government area, the removal of illegal structures and the opening of streets ‘ roads to pave way for development and easy access in some of the communities, assuring, all communities would benefit from the opening of roads of streets.


On the area of security which is prime in the Delta State Governor’s Stronger agenda, Iteire listed efforts by his administration in curbing crimes and ensuring the security of lives and properties through active partnership with all security agencies in the Local Government Area and the holding of regular security meetings with the president generals of all communities to get security reports and Marshall ways of tackling security threats.


On the health sector, the Council chairman stated that his administration has ensured the functioning of all Primary Healthcare centers through financial mobilization for the running of all health programmes including immunization, and synergies with firms operating in the Local Government Area in renovating some health centres.


Listing programmes carried out, the Isoko North Local  Government Council chairman said, his administration has been able to reintroduce the celebration of Children’s Day, Democracy Day, Armed Forces Remembrance Day amongst others.


Iteire said, through the office of his wife, Mrs Gloria Iteire, there have been programmes such as the visitation to some selected primary schools in all the wards and the provision of books, sandals, feeding bottles and writing materials to the pupils to make learning easy.


Mentioning the visitation to elderly women in all wards in the Local Government Area and the presentations of foodstuffs and cash by his wife, Deacon Christian Iteire explained his administration still has a lot of work to do in the Local Government Area, but its face with the challenges of funding, shortage of manpower in primary schools and healthcare centres amongst others, which he appealed for the assistance of the State Government.


The Isoko North Council Chairman assured of his administration’s commitment to the Stronger Agenda of Governor Okowa, assuring of the delivery of concrete dividends of democracy to the people of Isoko North.


In his response, the Special Adviser on Local Government Affairs to the State Governor, Prince Penewou, appreciated the Isoko North Council Chairman for warmly receiving him and his team.


He said that, the tour of Local Government Areas was a ‘follow-up initiative’ of the State Governor to know the challenges been faced by the various Local Government Councils especially concerning security, environment and Primary healthcare delivery, of which he lauded the Hon Iteire-led administration for its untiring efforts.


While urging the Council Chairman, Deacon Iteire to be more proactive and determined in his efforts in ensuring a cleaner and safer Isoko North Local Government Area , Prince Penewou called for more stronger partnership between the Council Chairman and the Directorate of Local Government Affairs at Asaba.
