World Food Day: Iteire calls for massive investment in agriculture for economic recovery ~ Truth Reporters

As the nation celebrates World Food Day, Isoko-North Council Chairman, Hon (Deacon) Christian Othuke Iteire on Monday, called for serious and massive investment in the Agriculture sector in order to ensure the recovery of the nation's economy and the availability of food for citizens.

Iteire made the clarion call on  Monday, October 18, 2021 at Asaba, the Delta State Capital Territory, during the celebration of world Food Day organised by the Delta State Government .

According to him, "for us as a nation to get it right economically, then we must return to Agriculture"

"This is both the surest and the shortest way for nation's economy recovery, by matching our words with action, showing genuine efforts towards the revival of the country's ailling economy"

He stated that, "Isoko nation, nay, Delta State, is richly blessed with vast arable lands which enjoy good  and sufficient rainfall"

"Vast as arable our lands are which are irrigated by many connecting rivers and streams in the State, we are fabulously blessed with Agricultural endowments that we urgently need to seriously harness for sustenance, commercialisation and revenue generation"

He assured of deliberate policies and programmes of his administration's commitment in maximizing the potentialities of the Agriculture sector in order to create employment for the teeming youths, and industrialization in Isoko North Local Government Area.

While calling for progressive partnerships with critical stakeholders and investors in the agro-economy, Hon Iteire said he would continue to ensure safe and conducive environment and leverage on Agriculture to revamp and boost the Economic growth of Isoko North  Local Government Area.
