Youth empowerment, engine for Stronger Delta, says Eboh ~ Truth Reporters

The successes recorded through the Delta State Government’s Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP) has been described as Governor Okowa’s engine in achieving his vision of building a Stronger Delta.

The Chief Job and Wealth Creation Officer, Prof. Eric Eboh disclosed this in Asaba during the Grand Opening of Bernice Beautified, a beauty outfit established by a STEP beneficiary trained in Hair dressing and Makeover in the 2019/2020 Programme Cycle.

While congratulating the CEO of Bernice Beautified, Bernice Ekene Uchibuolu, Prof Eboh stated that she is a fulfilment of the very reason Governor Ifeanyi Okowa established the Job Creation Programme, adding that the Governor would be happy to hear her success story.

“This is exactly what Governor Okowa wants to hear about the beneficiaries of the Job Creation Programme. The Job Creation Programme of his Excellency is a collective team work, the Job Creation Bureau worked with other agencies of the Government particularly the Directorate of Youth Mentoring and Monitoring (DYMM) to ensure that beneficiaries of Job Creation are not just trained but are properly established and followed through so that the vision of establishing them will be realized,” he noted.

Encouraging the CEO, Prof Eric said the opening ceremony was the beginning of her success and a clear indication that more blessing was waiting ahead. He prayed for the success of the venture, commending her father for supporting her to establish the enterprise. 



On his part, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, pointed out that the vision of the State Government was to ensure an encompassing development for Delta Youths with a passion for the girl child as clearly reflected in all its entrepreneurship programmes, adding that when women are empowered, homes and the nation are built.

He charged her to remain a role model of the State Government’s job creation programme so as to encourage other unemployed youths to embrace entrepreneurship.

“I would like to make a passionate appeal to Ekene, the young CEO. Please be the role model that you are because as youths, we learn faster from our friends. I am sure your story is going to be a motivation to many youths in Delta State,” he admonished.

Earlier, the Proprietor of Bernice Beautified, Bernice Ekene Uchibuolu, lauded the State Government for initiating STEP which she attested gave her the platform to boost her career as a make-up artist when she got enrolled in the programme.

“I want to specially thank His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State for his vision on setting up the Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP- the famed job creation scheme. Today, I stand before you to testify that I am a product and a beneficiary of the programme,” she stated.
