Isoko youths urges Delta Police boss to end communal war ~ Truth Reporters

The New Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ali Mohammed Ari, yesterday hosted the Isoko Development Youth Wing led by its interim President, Comr. Ede Ewariezi Hycienth in his office in Asaba.
Speaking during the meeting, Ede who welcomed the new Police Commissioner to the state, noted that Delta is a peaceful state inspite of the pockets of violence and bloodletting being witnessed in some parts of the state.
The Youth President in strong terms condemned the hostility between Emede and Igbide and called on the CP to double his efforts in ensuring that no more life or property is lost to the war.
"My CP sir. First, I welcome you most sincerely to our dear state. Even while you served in other states, tales of your good works, your acts of bravery and your conquests are known to us. We are glad to have you in our dear State," he said.
Continuing, "On behalf of the entire youths of Isoko which I represent, I call on you to intensify efforts to curb the crisis between Igbide and Emede. We are a peaceful people and as such we find find this crisis very alien to us. We are aware that you have been on the matter since you resumed duty in the state. We are aware that your efforts are already yielding fruits. We are convinced that sooner than later, this whole crisis will be over.
"Secondly sir, I and my excos are here to introduce ourselves to you as the one and only recognized youth body in Isoko. We are an offspring of the the IDU and we sure have their blessings and the blessings of the Kings, PGs and community leaders in the entire Isoko nation. We understand the need for a synergy between the security forces and the youths. We understand that peace can only be fully restored with the cooperation of all stakeholders. We are ready to work with you and your men to ensure that lasting peace return to Isoko.
"Finally sir, let me appeal that you should please allow your officers to remain in the warring communities till it is evidently clear that the fight is completely over. While other stakeholders are working towards bringing the two communities to a roundtable, those who want to make trouble should bear in mind that the security forces will resist any further attempt to create trouble," he concluded.
In his response, the CP who was flanked by other senior officers including the Deputy Commissioner Administration DCP Mrs Josephine Anyasiti, thanked the youths for the visit, stating that his Command is already on top of the situation in Igbide and Emede.
"When I resumed duty as the CP, my first assignment was the visit to Igbide and Emede communities. When I got to the towns, I felt really bad seeing the level of destruction that took place there. In Igbide, I met with Gen. Paul Omu and other leaders in the two communities. I have since dispatched my men to the place and I can assure you that they will remain there till this crisis is over.
"Looking at the piece of land under dispute makes the whole crisis more annoying. The piece of land is inside one thick forest. First, I wondered how much that land will be worth if sold. The land isn't worth this whole crisis at all. Now many people have died, while several others are refugees in their own land. This is so unacceptable.
"As the Youth Leader of Isoko, you must understand that our effort as security agents alone cannot bring the desired peace. You people must be delebrate about wanting this crisis to end. From our own end, we are working with other community leaders to put a lasting stop to this fights. One of such leaders is Chief Iduh Amadhe who has been very helpful to us. Very soon, all the parties will sit in a roundtable and a final decision will be reached," he said
Adding that, "I will give you people my private phone number and that of some of my senior officers so that you can reach us should you notice any unrest in your communities or should you find any of my officers behavior inappropriately over there,"
