Okowa urges Christians to always giveback to their communities ~ Truth Reporters



Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, had called on Christians to give back to their communities from their God blessings to uplift the living conditions of the people.


The Governor gave the advice Saturday, February 15, 2020 during the dedication and commissioning of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and Parish House Oghara Agbara - Otor, which was built and donated by Dr. and Barr. John Iyasere.


The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Christopher Ochor Ochor, while appreciating the Iyasere Family for the donation to the body of Christ stated that individuals, groups and corporate organisations, as part of their social responsibilities should always make out resources to give back to the society as the government cannot go it alone.

"I thank the family of Dr. and Barr. John Iyasere for this edifice built for the worship of God. This is one of the ways individuals, groups and corporate bodies can contribute to the development of their areas.

In his homily during the church dedication, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Warri, Most Rve. Dr. John Afereha, called change of heart by Nigerians and those in authourity, as the country is bleeding from all angle of its existence.

He condemned the high rate of poverty in the country, and said something urgent need to be done to avoid implosion.
