Okowa resolves 10 yrs Pan Ocean, Owa Kingdom dispute ~ Truth Reporters

The disagreement between Pan Ocean Oil Corporation Nigeria Limited and their host community of Owa kingdom in Ika North East Area of Delta has been laid to rest following the intervention of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

The people of Owa through their spokesperson, Chief Raymond Isitor highlighted their reasons for the disagreement with their tenants as outright disrespect for the Royal father, non patronage of indigenes in terms of contracts, renaming of Oil well in Owa-Dima to reflect the true owners of the place, bad roads, jobs and chiefly, non-existence of a General Memorandum Of Understanding amongst other grievances.

The State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Prince Emman Amgbaduba who represented the Governor directed that a GMOU process be put in place and concluded within three days in the last week of February, 2020.

He also directed that the top management of the company send a high-powered delegation to the Obi of Owa kingdom before the GMOU process begins.

He advised both parties to sheathe their swords and allow peace to reign as Government is concerned about providing a very peaceful and conducive environment for Oil companies operating within the state.

The meeting was attended by the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Mrs Gladys Puegeren, Directors in the ministry, representatives of Owa community and representatives of the m. Çnagement of Pan Ocean Oil Corporation Nigeria Limited.
