Ochonogor tasks building contractors on quality construction ~ Truth Reporters




Delta State Commissioner for Housing, Chief Festus Ochonogor has called on contractors handling construction of government buildings to ensure quality and follow approved Bill of quantities in order to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Chief Ochonogor stated this on Monday during an inspection of the construction of 6-storey High Court Complex In Asaba, the State capital.

The Commissioner noted that government has a lot of confidence on the construction firms and therefore urged them to be very professional in the execution of government projects.

He said that the inspection was to ascertain the level of work done so far and the quality of execution and was amazed with the quality and the speed of construction.

"My coming here today to inspect this project was to see for myself the level of work done and the quality of execution and I can tell you that am impressed by the speed and quality of execution of this project.

"I urge all contractors handling government building projects, including Ladisgold Projects not to betray the confidence reposed in them by the State Government.

"I will be visiting regularly to ensure that the project is completed and commissioned before the end of Governor Okowa's second term in office, he said, adding that the recent upward review of the contract by the State Executive Council was to achieve a befitting High Court Complex for the State Judiciary.

The state Government is to spend additional N1 Billion Naira on the project, bringing the contract sum to N3.2 billion Naira inclusive of the consultancy fees.

The Commissioner also inspected the proposed permanent site of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC and the demolished old Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Auditorium site.
